DESCRIPTION:Get involved with Public Citizen as they convene at the Texas State Capitol March 23rd. \nThe Texas House Committee on Environmental Regulation will hold a hearing on the TCEQ Sunset Bill (HB 1505). The bill proposes reforms to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ)\, the state’s main environmental regulatory agency.  \nThe TCEQ Sunset Bill is the culmination of over a year-long process known as the ‘Sunset Review\,’ the state’s process for evaluating its agencies about every 12 years. A report generated by the state as part of this review labeled the TCEQ a “reluctant regulator” for its ineffectiveness in holding polluters accountable. The current version of the TCEQ Sunset Bill includes favorable provisions such as extending maximum daily fines for polluters and modest improvements to the agency’s engagement and communication with the public. \nFor questions contact jmedina@citizen.org.

I hope you can join us on Saturday\, March 25th for this WRR event. \nOur Baby Shower is vital to the care of wild baby animals who need our help. If you cannot attend\, please take a moment and send a contribution to help baby opossums\, squirrels\, songbirds\, raccoons\, and so many others. \nOver the coming months\, Wildlife Rescue & Rehabilitation will rescue and care for thousands of baby wild animals. All of these infants will require around-the-clock attention in order to save their lives and return them to the wild. Many have suffered injuries after falling from their nest or being caught by a dog or cat. Each of these little ones knows all too well the trauma of life lived as an orphan. DESCRIPTION:Join Stewards of the Wild San Antonio Chapter for their Sausage Showdown at Beethoven Männechor. \nSausage Showdown is a one-of-a-kind opportunity for the public to sample the house recipes of the area’s best wild game meat processors. Attendees have the opportunity to compare some of the best processors side-by-side while enjoying cold beer on tap and live music at the city’s best German beer garden. Wild Game processors from the San Antonio and neighboring areas gather to serve their house sausage recipes and compete for the titles of best in category and the overall winner. \nEach attendee is given 4 tickets to vote for the People’s Choice Award in each of the four categories: Dry Sausage\, Link Sausage\, Summer Sausage/Salami\, and Jerky. In addition to the People’s Choice Awards\, a Judges panel also picks their favorites in each category. The processor with the most combined votes across all categories is crowned the Grand Master of Sausage. This event is fun for the whole family and we’re looking forward to hosting a crowd from around the city again this year. Attendees do not need to be members and all ages are welcome. \nTickets are for sale to the public for $30. Under 13 kids get in free. All proceeds from the event will go to City Kids Adventures. The event is necessary to provide basic tree care\, such as mulching\, watering\, weeding\, and light pruning to retain moisture around roots\, prevent weed growth\, and protect trees from extreme temperatures.  \nVolunteers will meet in front of the school.
