Bats, Birds and Barbecue

May 20 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

EarthShare of Texas 25th Anniversary
Round Table Discussions Presents:

Bats, Birds and Barbecue

The second event of our anniversary series is Bats, Birds and Barbecue: A Dinner Discussion of Wildlife and Habitat Conservation Beneath a Bat-Filled Sky.  Did you know that the Mexican free-tailed bats play a hand in making your after-work margarita? Or that raptors don’t have eyeballs?  Wildlife is fascinating, inspirational and integral to our survival.  As habitats become threatened by pesticides, oil/chemical spills and general pollution, conservation efforts are urgent. Join us at Bracken Cave where we will watch the awesome evening emergence of the world’s largest bat colony and meet some raptors up close and personally.  We will talk about what is being done to conserve wildlife habitats and what yet needs to be done. Enjoy a barbecue feast prepared by Rosemary’s Catering and wine from Austin’s favorite boutique distributor, Ambiente.

The wildlife experts are:

Fran Hutchins, Bat Conservation International
Erich Neupert (and his birds),Blackland Prairie Raptor Center
Karen Bishop, Master Naturalist, National Wildlife Federation

Following this event, our milestone anniversary will continue with monthly discussions regarding air quality, water conservation, climate change and land conservation ending with a fun filled family picnic in November, 2017.  We invite the entire community, young and old, to join us in celebrating the environmental and conservation organizations who continue to diligently care for our beloved State of Texas.

Let’s all do our part because, a good planet really is hard to find.
