Program Benefits

Experienced Fellow

The difference between a fellow and an intern: Green Leaders Fellows are already leaders in their fields and communities. They will act as project managers or consultants to your team.

Talent Recruitment

EarthShare Texas will find the right fellow for your project. We received over 60 applications in 2023 and are looking forward to another talented pool of applicants in 2024.

Project Deliverables

Fellows execute projects with measurable impact over the 12-week program. See the results of their work first-hand at the graduation and presentation ceremony in April, 2025!

DEI Training for Nonprofits

Participating nonprofits receive comprehensive training from our program partner, Mission Capital, as a part of our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Professional Development

Green Leaders Fellows participate in a variety of workshops throughout the program, including professional communications, project management training, and presentation delivery.

Networking Opportunities

You, your team, and your fellow will be invited to numerous networking opportunities throughout the fellowship to help foster meaningful connections and collaboration.

The Green Leaders Fellowship program strives to provide capacity relief for environmental nonprofits.

EarthShare Texas proposes a nuanced solution that addresses Green Workforce constraints while building the green leadership pipeline. The goal of the Green Leaders Fellowship is to foster a vibrant and diverse Green Workforce that will lead Texas in sustainable development, creating a positive impact in our communities and throughout our state. Nonprofits are encouraged to apply with a specific and impactful project that fellows can complete during their time as a Green Leaders Fellow.

The EarthShare Texas Green Leaders Fellowship was born from the City of Austin’s Green Workforce Accelerator, and continues to be inspired by successful partner programs.

Hosting a Fellow

When you host a Green Leaders Fellow at your organization, you become an integral part of their green career journey. Not only will they increase capacity for your organization, you will have a lasting impact on their professional development. We ask all nonprofit hosts to commit to:

  • Meet regularly with fellows
  • Provide project expectations and timelines
  • Communicate clearly and in a timely manner
  • Connect fellow with potential employers and resources

This fellowship has been an amazing help to our organization to increase staff capacity to allow us to work on a short-term pilot project without overstretching our existing staff. Our fellow is so easy to work with, and it's been really wonderful to collaborate with them and get their fresh take and perspective on our materials.

Helping us source these extremely talented candidates has been a life saver. They are beyond expectation.

Our fellow has been able to provide excellent insights to help guide our strategy working with a specific neighborhood for an environmental project, based on their experience. They have also helped create outreach materials, freeing up staff time to work on strategy and larger-scale outreach.

Our fellows have been a huge asset. They’ve taken initiative and have already transformed our social media presence. They’ve both created cool, informational designs, and they have decided they want to overhaul our website. These are HUGE gains for our tiny staff.
