Invasive Removal at Arrowwood Preserve with Bayou Land Conservancy
December 6 @ 9:00 am - 11:30 am

Come join Bayou Land Conservancy’s Invasive Species Eradication Patrol (BISEP) at Arrowwood Preserve!
We’ll be removing invasive plants to help native wildlife thrive.
Date: Saturday, December 6, 2025
Time: 9:00–11:30 a.m.
Location: Arrowwood Preserve
Look for the entrance gate on your left, then follow the natural driveway and park in the designated area.
What to Bring
- At least 2 liters of water
- Closed-toe shoes, long pants, and a long-sleeve shirt
- Optional: work/garden gloves, safety glasses, pruners/loppers (we’ll have some to borrow)
Nice to Have
- Hard hat
- Hand tools (loppers, hand saws, etc.)
- Bug spray + sun protection
- A snack
We’ll be outside the whole time!
Please Leave at Home
- Power tools, axes, hatchets, machetes
- Cologne or perfume (bugs love it!)
What to Expect
We’ll kick things off with a quick safety talk and a rundown on the plants we’re targeting. Then we’ll walk along natural trails to our work spots and get busy removing invasive plants in the open understory.
If weather conditions allow, our volunteer leads may apply a dye-marked herbicide to stumps to stop them from growing back. We’ll show you how to spot treated areas. If you’re worried about herbicide exposure, just let a staff member or volunteer know.
This can be sweaty, hard work — but also super rewarding! We’ll take plenty of water breaks.
Heads up:
There’s no drinking water or restrooms on site. Bring plenty of water, and if you need a bathroom break, you’ll have to leave the preserve. Gas stations are nearby along Hwy 249. Please don’t skimp on hydrating — it’s important!
