Prairie and Timbers Audubon Society Meeting with Presentation on “Breeding Survey of Texas Birds”

PTAS’s October program will be on the Texas Breeding Survey presented by Brent Ortego, retired biologist with the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. The Breeding Bird Survey coordinated by the U.S. Geological Survey for the United States will be described and population trends for birds breeding in Texas will be discussed. Detailed trends for 16 species will be displayed with maps and line graphs. Over 500 birders in Texas have contributed to this survey since its beginning in 1967 and the top 20 participants will be identified.
