Around the holidays, ‘Tanglers’ like broken Christmas lights, old toys, and old decorations create a huge problem at recycling sorting facilities.
Tanglers get caught in the machinery and can take hours of hazardous work to fix, Toys and holiday decorations are often made of different types of plastic and can’t be recycled easily, so they should be donated or thrown away – not put in recycling.
That’s why we’re encouraging participants to share No Tanglers or Toys messaging for January.
