GALVESTON BAY FOUNDATION 2025: League City Winter Prairie Planting

December 6 @ 8:00 am - 12:00 pm

Help native coastal prairie take root

Each winter, community volunteers help restore native coastal prairie habitat at the Dr. Ned and Fay Dudney Nature Center in League City by planting native grasses and flowering plants that improve water quality, filter stormwater, and strengthen local ecosystems.

As a volunteer for this event, you will help plant native coastal tallgrass prairie species in existing prairie, using digging tools and gloves.

Your effort will increase biodiversity on protected land and strengthen the resilience of nearby communities. Prairies support cleaner water, healthier soils, and quality habitat for birds, butterflies, and other pollinators.

All materials and instructions will be provided on-site. Restrooms are available at the nature center. The work area includes uneven ground and exposure to sun and winter weather. Volunteers should be prepared for outdoor conditions.

Our Rain Date is Dec. 13.
