STAR’s Fourth Annual Reuse Tour: Root Architects
June 11, 2021 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
The State of Texas Alliance for Recycling’s Reuse Council’s annual Reuse Tour is in El Paso this year! Texas is a big state, so don’t fret if it’s a little further than you care to drive, because we’re hosting our tour virtually this year!
The tour will be spread across three Fridays in June, during lunch, on the 4th, 11th, and 25th. We’ll feature a different reuse organization each week, and have built in time for small group networking rooms.
Admission is free, though donations to STAR are encouraged.
Tour Stops:
June 4: City of El Paso with Nicholas Ybarra, Engineering Division Manager, Environmental Services
June 11: Root Architects with Christopher Esper, Principal and Rida Asfahani, Founding Principal
June 25: Green Hope Project with Candace Printz, Founder & Director
June 4: City of El Paso
Join representatives from the City of El Paso as we kick off the Texas Reuse Tour in El Paso! Learn how El Paso is making it easy for its residents to reuse everyday items through their 5,000 square foot Country Reuse Stores and at their Citizen Collection Stations. You’ll also hear about other programs like their community tool shed, household hazardous waste reuse, paint reblend program, and more!
June 11: Root Architects
Root is a boutique architectural design firm focused on mixed-use commercial & residential projects. Join architects Christopher Esper and Rida Asfahani as they show you some of their adaptive-reuse projects that are helping preserve historic buildings in and around Downtown El Paso.
June 18: No Tour
In observance of Juneteenth, there will be no tour.
June 25: Green Hope Project

The non-profit focuses on art, education and environmentalism and is constantly striving to recycle, reuse, and repurpose in creative and innovative ways, in order to change the culture of our community for the better.
