This September, EarthShare Texas is excited to participate in San Antonio’s Big Give for the first time, joining nonprofits and supporters throughout the region for 24 hours of community giving from 6 PM September 23 through 6 PM September 24, 2026.
One Gift. Many Environmental Organizations.
For more than 30 years, EarthShare Texas has connected people who care about our environment with trusted nonprofit organizations working to protect it.
Rather than asking donors to choose a single organization or environmental issue, EarthShare Texas provides a simple way to strengthen many environmental nonprofits through one gift.
That network includes organizations serving San Antonio and South Central Texas such as:
- Greater Edwards Aquifer Alliance
- Guadalupe River Conservancy
- Bat Conservation International (stewards of Bracken Cave Preserve outside San Antonio)
- Wildlife Rescue & Rehabilitation,
- other organizations working in communities across the state
Together, EarthShare Texas members address issues ranging from clean water and land conservation to wildlife protection, environmental education, climate resilience, community health, and more.
The scale of that collective work is significant. In 2025 alone, EarthShare Texas members collectively:
- Removed more than 2.25 million pounds of trash from Texas lands and waterways.
- Planted more than 400,000 native trees.
- Conserved and protected 11.5 million acres.
- Provided more than 150,000 hours of environmental education and outdoor programming.
- Reached more than 22,000 children through water conservation education.
Investing in San Antonio’s Environmental Workforce
EarthShare Texas’ impact also extends to the people behind this work.
Through our Green Leaders Fellowship, emerging professionals are connected with environmental nonprofits for paid, hands-on work experience. Fellows gain skills, relationships, and professional experience while host organizations gain additional capacity to advance their environmental missions.
San Antonio-area organizations have become an important part of the program.
💧 Greater Edwards Aquifer Alliance, based in San Antonio, was recently named a 2027 Green Leaders Fellowship Host Member Awardee—its third consecutive year participating in the program.
🦇 Bat Conservation International, which manages Bracken Cave Preserve outside San Antonio, has hosted Green Leaders Fellows twice since 2024.
The paid component of the fellowship is intentional. Gaining the experience needed to begin an environmental career shouldn’t depend on someone’s ability to work for free. Providing a stipend helps create opportunities for people who might otherwise be unable to take on an unpaid internship while helping environmental nonprofits build their own organizational capacity.
It’s an investment in people and in the environmental organizations they serve.
