A Win for the Green Workforce: H-E-B and EarthShare Texas Renew Partnership

AUSTIN, TX – July 10, 2025 – Seventeen years into a successful collaboration, the prominent Texas supermarket chain H-E-B and environmental nonprofit EarthShare Texas are entering a new chapter in their partnership, one that reflects the evolving needs of the state’s nonprofit sector. Building on a shared commitment to sustainability, H-E-B and EarthShare Texas continue to focus on supporting the next generation of environmental leaders through EarthShare Texas’ Green Leaders Fellowship program.

Since the partnership began in 2007, H-E-B customers have contributed more than $2.2 million during Earth Month checkout campaigns—an investment that has directly supported conservation, climate, and environmental initiatives across Texas. As the nonprofit landscape continues to adapt to economic shifts, rising environmental challenges, and growing workforce needs, H-E-B and EarthShare Texas are partnering to foster long-term capacity building and professional development in the environmental sector.

This spring, the Green Leaders Fellowship welcomed its second cohort: ten emerging professionals matched with environmental nonprofits across the state to execute high-impact projects and address organizational capacity gaps. The Fellowship’s goal is to cultivate a diverse, skilled, and resilient Green Workforce equipped to lead Texas toward a more sustainable future. To date, ESTX Fellows have completed over 2500 hours of project work in service of Texas nonprofits and their vital mission-driven efforts.

In support of this flagship initiative, H-E-B is contributing a $60,000 grant for the 2025–2026 Fellowship cycle. This investment will expand the program’s reach and continue to empower young professionals to become leaders in the environmental movement, both within their local communities and statewide.

If you’re interested in participating in the Spring 2026 cohort of the Fellowship—whether as a nonprofit host or as a Fellow—you can find full details here. Applications for nonprofit hosts are currently open, and the Fellow application will open in August. We’re looking forward to welcoming a new group of passionate changemakers and dedicated organizations into the Green Leaders Fellowship. Stay tuned and follow us for the latest updates and opportunities to get involved!
