FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Empowering the Next Green Generation:

AUSTIN, TX – April 29th, 2024 – As they celebrate seventeen years of their coordinated effort to empower environmental nonprofits, Texas grocery chain H-E-B and EarthShare Texas evolve their partnership, shifting to support EarthShare Texas’ new Green Leaders Fellowship program.

Since 2007, H-E-B and EarthShare Texas have partnered to empower environmental nonprofits across Texas. During Earth Month, H-E-B customers have had the option to donate directly to EarthShare Texas at checkout, their valuable contributions totaling over $2.2M since the inauguration of the campaign. To adapt to the changing needs of the environmental nonprofit landscape in Texas, these two organizations have refocused their partnership to center around capacity building and professional development for the teams behind conservation, environmental, and climate work.

This year, six talented young environmental professionals were selected to join the inaugural cohort of the EarthShare Texas Green Leaders Fellowship program, each joining forces with a local nonprofit to meet specific capacity needs and take on a unique project. The mission of the Fellowship is to foster a vibrant and diverse Green Workforce that will lead Texas in sustainable development, creating a positive impact in our communities and throughout our state. H-E-B is generously investing in this flagship program with a $157,000 grant, which will support and expand this program during the 2024-2025 cycle. EarthShare Texas, with the valued ongoing partnership of H-E-B, will continue empowering Fellows to become leaders in the environmental field, within their communities, and beyond.

Regarding the Green Leaders Fellowship Program, EarthShare Texas Executive Director Francoise Van Keuren said, “Investing in the Green Workforce is absolutely vital to the future of Texas’ environment and our economy. The Green Leaders Fellowship aims to share the green economy opportunities equitably, while simultaneously supporting the organizations on the front lines of positive environmental and climate impact.”

EarthShare Texas is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit federation raising funds for local and national environmentally-focused member charities.
